Chikki is a classic Indian snack prepared using jaggery and nuts, widely consumed as an energy-boosting sweet. This Finger Millet Peanut Chikki recipe enhances the traditional version by adding finger millet (ragi) flour, making it richer in calcium, iron, and dietary fiber.
The combination of roasted peanuts and jaggery provides natural sweetness and protein, while ragi adds nutritional depth. Crisp, flavorful, and easy to store, this chikki is ideal for children, working professionals, and anyone looking for a wholesome snack without refined sugar.
Finger millet flour – 40 g
Peanuts – 100 g
Jaggery – 100 g

Dry roast the peanuts until the skin loosens. Cool, remove the skin, and coarsely crush the peanuts using a mixer or grinder.
In a pan, add jaggery and 1 tablespoon of water. Heat on low flame until the jaggery melts completely.
Continue boiling the syrup until it reaches hard crack consistency.
To test: Drop a little syrup into cold water; it should harden and crack when broken.
Once the correct consistency is achieved, add finger millet flour, crushed peanuts, and ghee to the syrup.
Mix thoroughly and quickly to coat everything evenly.
Grease a tray with ghee and transfer the mixture onto it.
Roll it flat using a rolling pin while the mixture is still hot.
Allow it to cool slightly and cut into square or rectangular pieces.
