Double Ka Meetha is a well-known traditional dessert, especially popular in Hyderabadi cuisine. This Foxtail Millet Double Ka Meetha gives the classic recipe a nutritious upgrade by using foxtail millet bread instead of regular bread.

The dish combines crispy ghee-toasted bread slices soaked in sugar syrup and enriched with milk and aromatic spices. Topped with roasted dry fruits, this dessert offers a perfect balance of texture and flavor while being more wholesome due to the use of millet.

Ingredients

  • Foxtail millet bread – 30 g
  • Sugar – 50 g
  • Milk – 100 ml
  • Ghee – 20 g
  • Cardamom powder – 5 g
  • Almonds – 10 g
  • Cashew nuts – 10 g
  • Water – as required

Preparation Method

  1. Cut the foxtail millet bread into slices.
  2. Heat a pan and add ghee. Place the bread slices in the pan.
  3. Toast the slices on medium flame until both sides turn golden and crisp. Remove and keep aside.
  4. In the same pan, fry almonds and cashew nuts in ghee until golden. Chop them into small pieces and keep aside.
  5. In a separate pan, add sugar and water in 1:1 ratio and boil until it reaches thin string consistency.
  6. Place the toasted bread slices into the sugar syrup and allow them to soak for 15 minutes.
  7. In another pan, boil milk on low flame.
  8. Pour the hot milk over the syrup-soaked bread slices.
  9. Garnish with roasted dry fruits and sprinkle cardamom powder.
  10. Serve warm.
