Ingredients

  • Foxtail millet rice – 50 g
  • Channa dal – 30 g
  • Milk – 50 ml
  • Ghee – 10 g
  • Jaggery – 80 g
  • Cardamom powder – 1 g
  • Dry fruits – 1 g
  • Water – 400 ml

Preparation Method

  1. In a saucepan, add channa dal and water. Cook for 10 minutes with a closed lid until it is half-cooked.
  2. Add washed foxtail millet to the dal and cook until both become soft and well-cooked. Add more water if required.
  3. In a separate pan, melt jaggery with a little water and cook for 5 minutes until it forms a syrup.
  4. Add the jaggery syrup to the cooked millet and dal mixture.
  5. Pour in milk and add cardamom powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until it reaches desired consistency.
  6. In another pan, heat ghee and roast dry fruits until golden.
  7. Add the roasted dry fruits to the pongal and mix gently.
  8. Serve hot.
