Prepared using fermented batter of urad dal (black gram) and millet rawa, these idlis are soft, fluffy, and naturally probiotic. They are perfect for weight management, diabetes-friendly diets, and overall wellness.
Millet idli is a great way to include millets in your daily diet without compromising on taste or texture.
Black gram dal (urad dal) – 1 cup
Multi millet rawa – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Water – as required
Oil or ghee – for greasing
Soak the black gram dal in water for 5–6 hours.
Wash it thoroughly and grind into a smooth, fluffy batter using water as required.
In a separate bowl, wash the multi millet rawa and soak it for 30 minutes.
Take a large bowl and mix the urad dal batter with the soaked millet rawa.
Cover the mixture with a lid and allow it to ferment overnight.
The next day, mix the batter gently and add salt to taste.
Grease the idli moulds with oil or ghee.
Pour the batter into the moulds.
Steam the idlis for 15–20 minutes or until cooked.
Remove from moulds and serve hot.
Serve with coconut chutney or peanut chutney
