Laddu is one of the most popular traditional Indian sweets, commonly prepared during festivals, family functions, and special occasions. This Pearl Millet Besan Laddu recipe brings a nutritious millet twist to the classic laddu by blending pearl millet (bajra) flour, besan, and wheat rawa.
Slow-roasted in ghee and flavored with cardamom, these laddus are rich, aromatic, and satisfying. They offer a perfect balance of traditional taste and wholesome nutrition, making them suitable for both festive gifting and everyday indulgence.
Pearl millet flour – 100 g
Besan (bengal gram flour) – 50 g
Wheat rawa – 50 g
Sugar – 100 g
Ghee – 50 g
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Dry fruits (pistachio, almonds, cashew nuts) – 20 g
In a pan, roast pearl millet flour, besan, and wheat rawa separately with ghee on low flame until aromatic.
Combine all the roasted flours in a pan and mix thoroughly.
In another small pan, heat a little ghee and fry the dry fruits until lightly golden.
Transfer the roasted flour mixture to a large bowl. Add fried dry fruits and mix well.
Add sugar and cardamom powder to the mixture and mix evenly.
While the mixture is warm, shape it into small round laddus using ghee if required.
Allow to cool and set before serving.
